Motorola has a reason to feel sour. In spite of the fact that they were the first ones to introduce slim phones in the mobile telephony market, Samsung has won the race by introducing the slimmest phone ever – Samsung D900. This slider phone is a proud member of the Samsung arsenal, which has off late produced some of the most scintillating and exciting phones in the market.
D900 is a take off from the Samsung models D500 and D600, yet is sufficiently differentiated to explain its elevated position in the hierarchy of the phones. Looking like an ordinary bar phone when closed, Samsung D 900 has an excellent slider mechanism that makes the phone quite tall when opened.
Continuing the legacy of excellence at Samsung, D900 also has a brilliant 3.15 MP camera which results are of the sharpest quality in almost all conditions. The auto-focus is one of the best possible. Not only pictures taken in low light conditions, but the specialized ones like ones in macro settings, come out fine with no missing details. Facilities of video capture and flash make the experience of using it even more superlative. Clearly, the camera if D900 gives it an edge among the other 3MP + camera phones, which are not many as yet.
The media player is excellent as well. The stereo sound makes the real music come out full blast. The player, to the relief of fans, supports almost all popular formats however the absence of an FM radio seems to mean on Samsung's part, when it is available in almost all lower models.
However, it will be wrong to assume that Samsung D900 is a phone only for frivolities. You can easily view your official documents like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF easily on your phone. Unfortunately, you can not edit them and they can only be used to view important mails and attachments.
As far as connectivity is concerned, the phone is a mixed bag. Even though the phone is a quad-band GSM supporting handset, absence of 3G in a phone which aspires to be counted amongst higher end models, disappoints. Similarly, WLAN and Infrared are missing. However, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth and USB support are provided which are good enough for most of mobile phone users.
The most amusing feature however is the TV out opinion, which can help you watch telly on the go !!! Downloadable Java games and polyphonic / MP3 ringtones make Samsung D900 the life of any party.
Samsung D900 is loaded with the best of technical features in a very attractive package. However, the price band placed is too high for luring a customer to its camp. We only wished D900 was more affordable so that more and more people could enjoy this slim beauty.
