The Journey of Ford Motors

Henry Ford began the journey of Ford motors in the year 1903. Since the incorporation of the organization, Ford motors has grown to become one of the biggest players in the automotive industry. In the past 100 plus years, Ford has been successful pushing limits in automotive technology and in introducing cars that have gained the loyalty of millions of consumers.

The popularity factor is not something that is new to Ford. In fact, in 1903, the first Model T was introduced that gained immense popularity. The demand was so high that the company had to get innovative with its mass production methods. In 1911, Ford went across the oceans and established a branch in Manchester, England. To meet the increased demand and need for quick production, Ford Motors changed history in the automotive industry by introducing the first moving assembly line at the Highland Park Assembly Plant in the year 1913. The first assembly line has 140 assemblers who worked along a 150-foot line to assemble the parts. By the 1920s, the company has over 20 overseas assembly plants across the world and was the largest automobile producer in America.

In 2008, when the three big automakers – Ford, General Motors and Chrysler were facing major financial issues, The United States government have to the rescue by providing financial aid through TARP (Troubled Assets Relief Program). Ford was the only organization that was able to survive the difficult time and did not file for bankruptcy. Since then the company has been steadily advancing and leaving its mark on the industry.

Since the turn of the decade, Ford has been investing in manufacturing fuel-efficient models. It has been successful in making cars that have high performance while at the same time being eco-friendly. Today, Ford is among the leading sellers for hybrid and electronic cars in America.

As of 2018, Ford has announced that it will be phasing out its passenger cars and focus on creating electric cars, hybrids, pickups, and SUVs. It is also working towards bringing advanced technology to make consumers’ driving experiences comfortable and luxurious. Ford will be bringing back the popular Ranger and Bronco beginning in 2019, along with a Diesel version of the F-150 truck.

Common Auto Repair Ripoffs

According to the California Bureau of Automotive Repair, there are over 25,000 consumer complaints filed concerning fraudulent auto repair every year. Car owners lose an estimated $20 million annually on unnecessary car repairs. And while most shops are, in fact, honest, it’s easy to see how dishonest mechanics can take advantage of customers: most people know little or nothing about car repair. But to avoid falling victim to auto repair rip-offs, it’s good to know about the ones that are commonly used.

False Estimates

This scam happens when mechanics give you a low initial repair estimate, only to hike up the costs when you come to pick up your vehicle after repairs have been done. The excuse for the extra costs will usually be that new problems were found during the work and they needed immediate fixing. Most people end up paying the hiked up price because they have no way of verifying the legitimacy of the mechanics’ claims. Get all estimates in writing and signed to avoid falling victim to this scheme.

Shady Highway Shops

Car shops located along the side of the road cater to car owners whose automobiles break down in the middle of the highway. They will sometimes charge exaggerated prices and bill you for extra repairs because they know that you’ll likely pay the extra money rather than get stranded in the middle of the highway.

Hook Deal Scams

When auto shops advertise ultra low or free deals on oil changes or tire rotations, their plan is to get you in for the low-cost/free service and then convince you to purchase more expensive repair services based on the recommendations they come up with after inspecting your car. Dishonest mechanics will sometimes make up problems or cause them themselves in order to get your money. If a suggested repair doesn’t seem right, get a second opinion before agreeing to the job.

Unnecessary Part Replacements

Some mechanics will try to convince you that a part of your car needs immediate replacement, when in fact the part is not broken and works just fine. To avoid falling victim to this scam, always ask to see the part that supposedly needs replacing. If it doesn’t look broken, get a second opinion. And ask to keep the old part to make sure that a replacement was actually performed.

How to Make Money at the Dog Track in the Summer

Greyhound tracks have to compete with a lot of summer time activities. People are out enjoying the nicer weather. They can go to the beach, picnic or take in a movie without contending with icy roads or cold weather.

So, to get them to go to the track, many venues offer rewards or special promotions. Some of these may include prizes as big as new cars or as small as free sodas, cheap beer and food. All of it is designed by their publicity people to get more people to come to the track.

Sometimes, someone gets the bright idea that music will get people into the track. Why this is, I’ve never been able to figure out. If I want to listen to music, I turn on the radio or put my MP3 player’s earbuds in. If I want to handicap dogs, I sit down where it’s quiet and go over my program.

But someone, somewhere, came up with the idea that dog racing fans will show up in bigger numbers if you offer them a more “carnival-like” atmosphere. That’s why you’ll find booths and umbrellas with radio dj’s broadcasting live and NASCAR drivers signing autographs in the clubhouse.

This is all well and good, but if you’re smart, you’ll ignore it and get as far away from it as you can. This is all designed to attract people who don’t usually go to the track. It’s not of any use to the serious handicapper, who is at the track to make money.

When the carnival comes to the dog track, the best thing you can do is remember to keep your eye on the center ring, where you can make money by picking the winner out of 8 dogs. Ignore the sideshows and glitter and focus on why you’re there – to make money.

The Complete Story of Isuzu Heavy Duty Trucks

History of Isuzu Heavy Duty Trucks

Isuzu Motors Limited is a well-known Japanese company that has made both cars and trucks in several sizes, and their heavy duty commercial truck series are very popular and widely used. They have become a very well-respected and innovative company.

Start of Isuzu Motors Limited Brand

Although it did not have the Isuzu name as yet, the company has its beginning in 1916 when the Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Company joined in with the Tokyo Gas Electric Industrial Company to make vehicles. Two years later, they were given permission to do this and to sell the new vehicles in Japan, with the cars made being designed by a UK company called the Wolseley Motor Company.

Isuzu Starts Producing Trucks

Isuzu branched out into their truck making venture in 1922 with their first commercial truck being the Wolseley Model A-9. In 1934 they came up with the Isuzu name in honor of the Isuzu River in the Ise Shrine area, and by 1949 they officially took the Isuzu Motors Limited name and were making headlines as the largest heavy duty truck maker in Japan.

Isuzu Trucks After World War II

After the war, Isuzu began to make their trucks at an even faster pace to keep up with the new demands on the company. They produced commercial trucks designed to transport food and other products, which were used in the reconstruction of Japan after World War II. The need for these heavy duty commercial trucks helped create a boom in the manufacturing at the Isuzu plants.

By 1959, Isuzu was producing several kinds of heavy duty commercial trucks and had designed a cab forward control truck dubbed as the N series. This style of truck is still popular because of the turning radius, and the fact that it is easy to drive. In 1960, the N Series trucks were also made featuring a diesel engine. This was the first time this was done in the manufacture of this type of truck in Japan.

Isuzu Over the Next Decades

Isuzu manufacturers continued their innovation over the next few decades, coming out with the medium weight series F trucks in 1970, a flat low series truck four years later, a wide cab in 1980 and they came out with trucks with front end suspension in their trucks in 1990.

In 1995 Isuzu introduced the C & E series of heavy duty trucks and in 1997 the company showed how innovative it was by producing Japan's very first four bag air suspension in their trucks with the GIGAMAX series.

In 1998 developed a bedless style of truck called the Forward V and in 1999 that they debuted the Forward MAX, and in 2002, their more efficient Smoother F transmission was placed in some of their truck models.

Isuzu Works With the US

The US first worked with the Isuzu Motors Limited in 1971 when General Motors made a deal with them to make Isuzu vehicle for the very first time. This began the Isuzu venture to work with other US companies in the next 30 years as they made similar deals with Chevrolet and Dodge.

In fact, by 1999 General Motors had become the major stakeholder in Isuzu at 49 percent, but sadly this occurred around the time of a major recession and Isuzu ended up shutting down these operations in the US and instead focused primarily on making commercial trucks and diesel engines.

Modern Isuzu Trucks Era

These days, Isuzu still has some of its N and F series of commercial trucks driving around the world. Plus, they are still making commercial trucks designed for towing, hauling building supplies, working in pest control, and landscaping. It is estimated that nearly 90 percent of the Isuzu trucks that have been sold in the US are still running due to their high quality and workmanship.

In 2005, Isuzu was known at the largest truck manufacturer in the world for heavy and medium duty trucks by 2009 they have made more than 21 million diesel engines, which are currently being used by the companies Renault, Opel and General Motors.

Today, Isuzu has its headquarters in Tokyo and is still turning out quality trucks with a multitude of uses.

The best place to start if you wish to sell a junk car for cash is a scrap metal yard. Scrap metal companies buy junk vehicles and break them down into more valuable parts. They retain the appropriate equipment, machinery, and tools to quickly disassemble a car and recycle the metal that is inside.

You can make more money at these scrap yards if you take apart the junk vehicle yourself, then sell each individual component for cash. The reason you will get less money for a whole junk car is that the company has to use time and effort to strip down a vehicle themselves.

How To Prevent From Being Slaughtered When You Negotiate – Negotiation Tip of the Week

“What the heck happened in there? They slaughtered us! They out-negotiated us at every turn! Why did we not see that coming?” “I guess we didn’t plan for that type of negotiation with that type of negotiator”, was the reply.

People engage in negotiations because they seek to maximize an outcome. In that quest, some people lose their focus. They use the same negotiation strategies they’ve used in the past and wonder why they get slaughtered when those strategies are no longer effective. To prevent that from happening to you, note the following.

Positioning:

Environment: Know what the best environment is to conduct your negotiation in. That environment may encompass doing so in writing, or phone, versus in person. There are different dynamics that come into play when negotiating in different environments. Know the environment that will most benefit your style of negotiating compared to the negotiation style of the opposing negotiator.

Perception: Everyone has an image of who the person is that they’re negotiating with. That persona is based in part on what the perceiver knows about the other negotiator; that stems from what the perceiver has seen, heard, and thought of that person in the past.

Project the persona warranted for the negotiation. Take into consideration the negotiation style of the opposing negotiator in your calculation (i.e. hard (I’ll crush you), soft (I’ll go along to get along)). The perception you cast and how you perceive the other negotiator will determine the flow of the negotiation. To prevent being caught off guard, about your perception of the other negotiator and him of you, be adaptable as to the persona you project.

Strategy:

Entity: Know who you’re really dealing with (i.e. what force and sources motivates the other negotiator). Consider how he interprets information and how best to message that information related to the messenger (i.e. your persona). Your message may be received more favorably with one persona based on how that persona is perceived.

Leverage: When assembling strategies, assess how you’ll employ the powers of leverage. Leverage is a tool that can embolden you with positional power (i.e. power you have for a specified time), which can improve your negotiation position. Be cautious of how you use leverage. If you state you’ll engage in an action and don’t follow through, not only will you lose the ability to invoke leverage further in the negotiation, you also run the risk of losing credibility.

End Game:

What’s your end game and how will you know when you’ve entered it? You should develop the answers to those questions during the planning phase of your negotiation. The plan should encompass what might trigger the end game phase of the negotiation, how you might promote it to occur if it’s lagging, and what you might do to terminate the negotiation if you discern that your efforts will not get you there.

By having markers denoting possible exit points from a negotiation, you lessen the possibility of staying engaged longer than what’s necessary; staying engaged longer increases your vulnerability by making unnecessary concessions.

Once you arm yourself with the thoughts mentioned above, you’ll insulate yourself from the brutality that could otherwise occur. That insulation will also be a shield that prevents you from being slaughtered in your negotiations… and everything will be right with the world.

Remember, you’re always negotiating!

Compare Cheap Car Insurance Quotes Online

The main reason you need to go on the net to rate shop is simple. First, many carriers that market their coverage on-line have direct insurance prices. This means they have a business model that excludes expensive brokers and sell polices directly to consumers. This is good news for money savers like yourself. Usually, you can find direct automobile insurance quotes that are 10% to even 15% lower than calling up an agent. The second reason why you should check web quotes is the ability to compare multiple rates super fast. You can apply at the website, and if you have any questions, a helpful representative is available to assist you anytime.

Before you go and start getting quoted, there are a couple of basic things you need to do beforehand. Get all of your personal and vehicle information together. This means the year, make model of your car and the VIN or vehicle identification number. You’ll also need the name of your current insurer, home address and with some insurers, your license number. Once you have this important info ready to go, getting online car insurance quotes to compare will only take a few minutes.

Don’t Feel Bad About Switching Car Insurance Companies

So many people feel guilty about changing automobile insurers. This is not some legal contract that bounds you to one insurer forever. The truth is, your policy can be canceled by the insurer at any time for many reasons like a DUI offense. So you need to have the same mindset and if you find a lower rate, do not hesitate to switch carriers. After all, you work hard for your money and have the right to change car insurance companies any time you want to. One frequent excuse for not switching; is people falsely believe they won’t get refunded their pre-paid premiums. This is not true at all. If you’ve made a years payment in full on policy and want to switch after six months, you will get a full refund. Try a free online quoting site and if you can save more than $100 per year on coverage, it is probably worth it to change providers.

Remember that comparing car insurance quotes online is totally free and you have no obligation at all to buy a policy. You only need to fill out a few minutes of personal information to get matched with the lowest rates for the type of coverage you need. One quick tip; Always do business with carriers that have a B or higher A.M. Best insurance rating. This is super important because the last things you need is for your auto insurer to go belly up and not be able to pay a claim. Just like in any other industry, insurance firms get badly managed and go out of business all the time. There are lots of sad stories out there of people not getting paid on very serious claims because the insurer went bankrupt.

Express Yourself Well and Say How You Feel

So many of us are automatically programmed to do the 'right thing' when something is asked of us. If we've been 'well brought up' we may find it hard to resist the temptation to be useful, help others, not disappointment or cause offense. Yet agreeing, not saying how we feel or sometimes saying 'yes' when we do not want to, can lead us to feeling unused, unappreciated and resentful.

– When we learn to be assertive and express ourselves well , in an appropriate way, it means that when we do say 'yes' to something we're happy to undertake that extra task, meet up socially, do a favor, take things further . We're not feeling cajoled, bullied or guilty-tripped. On occasion we may agree to do things we're not too keen on or stay quiet and bite our tongue. We'll view it as a trade-off; it may be important to gain brownie points or simply be good manners.

However, if we sense that our acquiescence has become a regular pattern, that others now expect us to always agree, we may need to consider the signals we're giving. When we express ourselves well it becomes an integral part of establishing balanced relationships. So it's important to notice if others have begun to view us as a pushover and 'yes' is now becoming the most negative word in our vocabulary.

– Saying how we feel means that we're committed to establishing equal relationships , are keen to be open, honest and comfortable together. When we're at ease and prepared to give, share and be real about our feelings it helps us build trust and mutual respect, where communication occurs naturally. No one's keeping a tally of who does good deeds and favors or is having to think before they speak.

If, over time, we notice that we're the one who's always helping out, is obliging, saying 'yes' when we'd prefer to say 'no' and getting nothing in return we may start to feel frustrated and let down. Rarely receiving consideration or a simple 'thank you' can signal time to start expressing yourself better and saying how you feel rather more often.

Remember though that others may not fully appreciate how you're thinking or feeling. If you're quiet you may appear sullen, indifferent or in agreement with what's been decided. Watch for this becoming a pattern in a relationship, especially if one person is dominant or strongly opinionated. The fact that you may have given a massive concession, or made a major investment of yourself may have escaped their notice. They may have asked a question where they expected you to say then you feel then simply taken at your word.

I remember a client, a top female manger in a male-controlled national company. She was seriously stressed, working long hours with virtually no free time or personal life. She always said 'yes' to her manager because she was worried that if she did not he would assume she was not coping and was not up to the job. One evening she was driving home from work late at night. Her boss called and asked her to do an urgent report for him.

She'd worked on her confidence and so felt able to readily explain what she was already working on, that she was happy to do the report but needed his input on rescheduling her workload to incorporate the new request. It turned out that he was unaware of her other commitments, was inquiring if she had any spare capacity and was happy to get someone else to do it. She deal with his request calmly and effectively, expressed herself well and so avoided automatically saying 'yes' and ending up working through the night.

– Good communications are important. Being open and honest, expressing clearly that you're happy to do something, want to be supportive, spend time together, but need others to reciprocate, understand and appreciate your point of view is a positive way of investing in your relationships. It's important to indicate what you want from your partner in return.

– When we feel obligated, pressured or second-guessed we can start to feel resentful . Always being the 'good guy' can wear thin, especially if it becomes similar that others automatically assume we will go along with their wishes. We can feel unappreciated, disregarded, inconsequential. But if we do not speak up and say how we feel we have to accept some responsibility for other people's prayers. It's important to deal with a situation before it impacts too much on our relationships.

If this is you, take time to reflect on why you have this mindset, why this pattern has evolved in your relationships. Were your role models people-peasants, always compliant; was disagreement considered as argumentative, unattractive, unacceptable; Were your …

If you only plan to drive out of town for a day, only rent the car for the day rather than the entire vacation. If you’re staying in the city, generally you can rent a car from hotels for the day rather than from the airport for your entire stay.

3. Rent off the airport property

It is usually much cheaper to rent a car in town rather than the airport. The airport has additional fees that can be avoided by renting a car in town. Check with hotels in the area and find out where you can pick up a car for the day. If you rent the car at the end of your trip, plan on returning it at the airport, avoiding a transportation fee to get back to the airport.

4. Rent for a day trip and return it after hours

If you’re planning to take a day trip, pick the car up from a hotel in the city. Return the car after hours and avoid the second day rental as long as it’s returned before they open the next day. In addition, you’ll avoid paying overnight parking fees as well. Drop by the car rental in the morning and pick up your receipt or have them email it to you.

5. Search the web for coupons

Determine which car company you plan to use, then do a search for coupons and discounts that apply to that rental company. Typically, you just need the code. Once you have it, apply it to your car rental. Weekly car rental coupons typically can save you $25.00 – $30.00. That’s quite a discount on a weekly car rental.

6. Stay over a Saturday night

Car rentals often discount the rate for a Saturday night stay over. Most coupons only work when there is a Saturday night stay over. If you’re planning to rent a car from Sunday – Saturday, you might have a much better deal renting from Saturday – Friday.

7. Rent a smaller vehicle and request a free upgrade

Rent an economy or compact car and often they’ll tell you they just upgraded you to a larger vehicle. Rental car companies tend to have an overflow of the larger vehicles and will usually upgrade you without additional cost. Check with them to see if they’ll give you a free upgrade.

8. Don’t opt for them to refill your gas

Always choose the option to bring the car back full of gas. If you elect to have the car rental company fill the gas tank for you, you’re paying for a full tank, regardless of how much you’ve used. Most times your tank is not registering on empty as you pull in to the car rental to return the car.

9. Check with your insurance company for coverage

If you already have car insurance, it probably covers car rentals. Check with your car insurance and find out what your car rental coverage is. This could save you quite a bit if you’re already covered.

10. Check with your credit card company for coverage

Most major credit cards provide for car rental insurance. Read the fine print as some state the reservation and the payment must be made with the same credit card.

There are so many ways to save money on rentals. Consider renting a car at the beginning or end of your trip, allowing you to avoid transportation costs to or from the airport. Plan your day trip requiring a vehicle at the start or end of your trip, to avoid keeping the car for the entire vacation.

Concessions to Start-Ups Regarding Labour Laws in India

In order to promote the Start-Up ecosystem in the country and incentivizing the entrepreneurs in setting up new start-up ventures and thus catalyze the creation of employment opportunities through them, the Ministry of Labour & Employment has issued an advisory to the States/UTs/Central Labour Enforcement Agencies for a compliance regime based on self-certification and regulating the inspections under various Labour Laws. It has been suggested that if such start-ups furnish self-declaration for compliance of nine labour laws for the first year from the date of starting the start-up, no inspection under these labour laws, wherever applicable, will take place. The nine labour laws, included in this advisory are:

• the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947;

• the Trade Unions Act, 1926;

• the Building and Other Constructions Workers’ (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996;

• the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946;

• the Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1979;

• the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972;

• the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970;

• the Employees’ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952; and

• the Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948.

From the second year onwards, up to 3 year from the setting up of the units, such start-ups are required to furnish self-certified returns and would be inspected only when credible and verifiable complaint of violation is filed in writing and approval has been obtained from the higher authorities.

The advisory to State Governments is not to exempt the Start-ups from the ambit of compliance of these Labour Laws but to provide an administrative mechanism to regulate inspection of the Start-Ups under these labour laws, so that Start-ups are encouraged to be self-disciplined and adhere to the rule of law. These measures intend to avoid harassment of the entrepreneurs by restricting the discretion and arbitrariness. Punitive action shall, however, be taken whenever there is a violation of these labour laws.

Start-ups not only help the country to develop and grow financially but also provide a lot of job opportunities to unemployed people of the country. The labour opportunities generated also helps the people of the country to gain employment. The Department formed for this in the government has come up with 9 labour laws which need to be looked upon in case of violation or complaint filed against the start-up.

Therefore the government is promoting start-ups and alongside generating labour opportunities for unemployed people of the country.

Surplus Auto Auctions – You Could Bag a Bargain

Surplus items are things which have been accumulated in quantities more than is needed – something the government does very well. The government always has a large quantity of cars and trucks that may be in good condition, but which it can no longer use and must have sold off at surplus auto auctions. These government fleet vehicles are either used by government agencies like police departments (these cars have seen heavy use but will have been well maintained) and those used as personal vehicles which will often have very low mileage.

In most cases a buyer will be given a vehicle history along with the car so if that is an important issue for you, check on the availability of the history before bidding for a car. Many of these cars and trucks have years of life left in them and are only being sold because government policy demands it and so are extremely good buys. Cars that have been designated by law enforcement agencies will also be on sale at these surplus auto auctions. All kinds of vehicles are available at the surplus auto auction – cars, trucks, heavy equipment, ATVs and motorcycles.

Those who may be in the market for a second car or who have restricted budget will do well to look at the options available at these surplus car options. These auctions are also places to by luxury cars that would normally be beyond the reach of many people – cars sorted from big time criminals form part of the surplus auto auctions. As everyone knows, these crooks always travel in expensive sedans – and since the government has no use for them, they are sold off for whatever the auction brings in. When bidding for cars at a surplus auto auction it is important to always keep in mind that the pressure is on the government to sell these cars – keeping them lying around unused costs money for storage and maintenance. That is why cars are often available for incredibly low prices -the government is happy to cut its losses.
