Auto Repair Shops Adopt Environmentally Responsible Practices

It's taken a long time to realize that some of the things that we humans did in the past are not the best practices for a healthy environment. Most everyone is now aware that it is important to include environmentally friendly practices in all that we do. This is as true for auto repair shops as it is for our households.

How can an auto repair shop reduce the negative impact on the environment?

Here are some good practices that an auto shop can adopt:

Recycle
Recycling antifreeze, oils, lubricants, air conditioning refrigerant, tires, oil filters are pretty much obvious and often required by law, but what about cardboard, paper, plastics, metal, fluorescent bulbs, glass and other objects so easy to just dump into the garbage bin? It takes a bit of time to sort everything, but if you have a system set up, then it only takes a few minutes every day.

Return Center
In addition to recycling your own shop use the products, make a return center for items such as used automotive lubricating oils, filters, antifreeze, used plastic oil and antifreeze containers and all types of batteries. In our shop we gladly accept liquids up to 20 Liters maximum, in sealed containers during business hours. It just makes good sense and provides convenience to customer who may otherwise have to go out of their way way to get rid of these items.

Recycled Oil
While we do not dispute the method or intention, we are not convinced it is a viable option for sophisticated modern engines like most cars have today. A better alternative is to have the waste oil removed by a government certified hauler to be consumed as fuel in large industrial plants. This gives the oil a new life and it is re-used in a responsible way.

Good Use of Recycled Products
Where it makes sense to use recycled products we do, for example recycled engine antifreeze and coolants where the process is up to standards of the original equipment manufacturer of the vehicle it is going to be used in. This is about two thirds of the coolant we use.

Automobiles
Let's face it, automobiles are mobile hazardous waste generators, even when they are sitting still. We have not found a way yet to achieve a near zero auto carbon footprint but it is our responsibility to reduce that negative impact as much as possible. That responsibility is shared by the car owner as much as it is by the shop that services that car. A car running in top shape does more than just reduce carbon emissions, a car service shop that adopts environmentally friendly practices contributes to a community's well being.

Auto Suspension Parts: Know Your Vehicle

Imagine that you are traveling in your car and you encounter a large speed breaker in the middle of the route that you have to cross. You feel uncomfortable because you are aware your vehicle has a poor suspension system. However, if you had effective suspension parts installed, there was no need to worry about bumps or other similar hurdles. Suspension parts can help you to cross hurdles on the road smoothly.

Let's check out the different parts of a suspension system.

Control Arm: This is also known as wishbone. The shape of this suspension part is nearly triangular. It resembles 'A', so sometimes it is also referred to as the A-arm. On one side, it is attached to a steering knuckle with a ball joint, and on the other side it is attached to an arm shaft with bushing.

Bushing: A small but important part in the suspension system. Bushing is mostly made of synthetic rubber to separate out its two metal parts. This synthetic rubber helps both metal parts to coordinate smoothly. It also helps the suspension parts to move freely when navigating a large bump, for example. There are polyurethane bushhes also available in the market that are more durable.

Ball Joint: A ball joint is a spherical bearing. Generally, it is used to join the steering knuckles and the control arms. It is a very important part between the steering and suspension, and it is responsible for safe operation. The difference between these and the standard ball joints is that lubricants are not needed for sealed ball joints because they are already lubed, while standard ball joints need regular lubing else they may cause loss control.

Sway Bar: Sway bars are also known as stabilizer bars. A sway bar is used in a vehicle suspension system to reduce jerks caused by irregular road surfaces. It also helps the vehicle to keep a 'grip' on the road so that the driver can steer the vehicle well, even while turning or in the case of poor road surfaces.

Idler Arms & Pitman Arms: Idler and pitman arms depend on the support of steering linkage. An idler arm is fitted to the opposite of pitman arm on the center link. It helps to hold the center link at a proper height by attaching the other end onto the vehicle frame. The Pitman arm helps to steer the wheel because one of its ends is attached to the vehicle's steering gear.

The ones discussed here are only some of the auto suspension parts. There are many more big and small parts within the suspension system. Adjusting sleeves, center links, drag links, strut mounts, swy bar links, tie rod ends, wheel hubs, and other similar parts are also components of auto suspension. Without understanding these parts, you can not fully understand your vehicle suspension system.

Drivers are classified based on a number of different characteristics including, but not limited to, age and gender, marital status, where the vehicle is garaged, driving record, make and model of vehicle, prior insurance coverage and annual miles driven. History has shown that drivers with certain characteristics, such as a poor driving record, have a greater chance of being involved in an accident, and the drivers in those classifications must pay higher rates. Drivers do not realize how expensive it is to have and operate a vehicle. This "privilege" is heavily subsidized. Drivers who are similar in other respects: age, gender, location, driving safety record, pay nearly the same premiums if they drive five thousand or fifty thousand miles a year. Just as an all-you-can-eat restaurant encourages more eating, all-can-drive insurance pricing encouraging more driving.

Coverage include the type of losses for which the company agreements to pay. Each kind of coverage you buy will have its own section in the policy that details the situations it covers, persons insured under it, definitions of various words used, exclusions that apply to the section, and the limits of the company's protection in that section. Coverage provided by group and non-group policies generally is similar. Remember, however, that different companies offer different coverage options in their policies.

Companies offer discounts to policyholders who have not had any accidents or moving violations for a number of years. You may also get a discount if you take a defensive driving course. Companies renew policies after expiration. A discount on premium is sometimes provided to existing clients.

Buying a less expensive car will cut down on your insurance and liability coverage costs.

Carefully study coverage extent, the length of time it takes to process claims and extras such as free towing or road assistance. Customer support is also extremely important …

5 Reasons Why You Should Motorise Your Garage Roller Door

Wireless technology allows doors to be controlled via key fob, wireless key switch or wireless key fob. Motorized garage doors allow for a rapid entry and exit by use of remote controlled devices. They are also far more secure than a non-motorized garage door. The home or business owner can program the opener to respond to a pre-selected PIN code before the door will open, preventing thieves from unlawfully entering the promises. They also allow owners to sync their systems to other home security systems, so that if a breach does occur, law enforcement officials will be notified immediately. Strongly consider the five aspects that have been highlighted below:

1. Security
Motorized roller doors fit into steel guides that span the height of the door opening. These doors are equipped with dual-lock bars or a comb-locking mechanism. A bottom rail is included to reinvigorate the door against possible intruders. When lowered, the controller provides protection against lifting and drawing in. Security can be further improved by the addition of an alarm.

2. Optional Drive System
This is essentially the mechanism by which the motor opens and closes your door. The two most popular are chain or belt drive systems. Roller Doors open vertically into a compact roll above the opening, taking up minimal space in the garage. They are highly versatile. With many garages being built with segmented, squared or full arch, they are able to fit any type of garage opening. By having them motorized, you are still provided with an option of having a chain or belt driven system. Chain drives use a metal chain to run the door on its track – they're usually the least expensive, and the most rugged, but can also be noisy. Belt drive openings are almost silent, as they run on a rubber belt.

3. Minimum motor power
The power of your motor will depend on the weight of your garage door. Most garage roller doors measure up to 8 'wide and this makes them suitable for a motor rated at about 45kgs only. This means that you do not need needlessly to use a motor with great amounts of power output.

4. Safety Protection System
The greatest question to ask yourself when you install a garage door is, "Could the door hurt someone if they're in the way?" Most automated garage doors have a safety protection system. This means that they will immediately stop if there is an obstacle in the way. A roller door rolls up vertically inside the garage above the opening and does not have an outwing like it's up & over counterpart. This allows you to park right up in front of your door and provides more interior garage space.

5. Feedback System
The automation control is equipped with an LED light to provide system status and maintenance diagnosis. Integrated courtesy light, automatically switches on with garage door operation. Settings are automatically maintained to ensure that the roller garage door rolls up fully and closes perfectly over time, protecting your installation.

A Guide to Auto Detailing

If you want to enhance the look of your vehicle, take it to an auto detailing shop. Most places charge a nominal fee for auto detailing services. If you find that you are in between paychecks and can not afford to get to an auto detailing shop right away, you can do some light delay on your own until you are able to get to the shop.

The first thing you need to do is to wash the outside of the car with soap and water. You can use a car wash liquid or you can use dish soap. Be sure to have another bucket available with just plain water. Take a hose and spray the car down to get rid of the grime and dirt. Wheel cleaner can be sprayed onto each wheel and let it sit for a few minutes. By letting it set, it will soften up the brake dust and will allow you to have an easier time to cleaning your wheels using a sponge and soapy water, clean the vehicle one side at a time. It is usually easier to start with the roof and work your way down. Then rinse off the car and then clean the wheels with a brush and then rinse them.

Clay bars can be bought at any automotive parts store. There are different grades available, but fine or medium is best. What the bar does is it gets all the bugs, grease, dirt and contaminants off of your car. Take an empty spray bottle and add soap and water. Spray each side of the car with the soap and water mixture and then take the clay bar and rub it over the parts of the car in order to remove all of the contaminants. Then take a hose and rinse off the entire car.

Polishing your vehicle can be done by hand with a rag or by using an electric buffer. Many people tend to choose an orbital buffer because it helps to prevent them from ruining the paint. As a small amount of the polish either straight onto the car or onto the buffer pads. You then need to let it dry completely before the next step.

The next step is to take a swirl remover and go over the entire vehicle with a swirl of mover which will help get rid of scratches and swirl marks. Let the remover dry and then take a clean cloth and wipe down the car.

Take the rubbing compound and clean the taillights, tailpipes and headlights. If you find that the headlights are starting to look faded, you may need to utilize some sand paper along with soap and water. There are also kits that are sold that are used to clean the headlights and tail lights. Be sure not to use a lower number texture of wallpaper, because this will scratch plastic and you may not be able to fix it after that. You want the finest sandwich but not the lowest number. You can clean the tailpipe with polish that is made to clean aluminum or metal.

Take a clean cloth and some liquid wax in order to ask the vehicle. You do not need to use a lot of wax. Let the wax dry on your vehicle and then take a clean rag and wipe the car down. The end result will be a shiny vehicle.

Preparing Your Car For Shipping

If you've received your car transport estimates and have selected a car transport service there are some preparations you need to take before your car shipping company comes to pick up your car or when you leave it at the car shipping service's terminal.

Take these steps ahead of time to minimizeize potential problems that could arise while your car is being shipped:

Unless you are shipping a non-operating car or truck, like an antique automobile, and your car shipping service knows about it, have your car serviced ahead of time so that it will start, stop and roll like it's supposedly to.

Check your car's liquids, battery charge and air pressure in the tires.

Secure or remove any bolted on accessories, like roof racks, extra mirrors, air dams, spoilers, etc.

Lower or remove all antennas. If you have an EZ pass device remove it before shipping.

Thoroughly wash the car and clean the interior. If shipping the car overseas, have the undercarriage washed. The destination country may require it.

Have any fluid leakage problems corrected. If you car is leaking fluid, make sure the car shipping service knows about it in advance and that the driver is aware of it so your car does not get placed above another car in transit and damage it.

Do not leave this item until the last minute.

Provide a full set of keys to your car shipping service. If you need to make additional keys, do so ahead of time and make sure they all work.

If you're moving the car to an area with harsh weather, get it ready by having the air conditioning serviced, the antifreeze protection increased, or by using the proper viscosity oil for the new climate. Remove all personal items from your vehicle. Shipping personal effects inside a car that's being shipped is against the law in the US and the car shipping service can get fined. Additionally, personal effects in your car general do not have much if any insurance coverage and you are exposing them to the risk of theft.

The only thing you should leave in the car is the jack and the spare tire.

Try to leave no more than a quarter tank of gas in the car when it's picked up for shipment or dropped off at the car shipping service's location. Safely empty any RV propane tanks.

If your car has an alarm, disable it to prevent if from accidently going off while your car is in

Is Budget Car Insurance Cost Effective?

Budget car insurance is widely available on plenty of broker quote sites online.

If you have really good credit, you will automatically pay a lot less for car insurance than most people. Most insurance companies will pull a copy of your credit report as a matter of prudence.

It has been proven that there is a direct relation between your credit score and how likely it is that you will file an insurance claim with an insurance company. This means that if you are a high claimer and are looking for budget car insurance, it may prove difficult.

If you are seeking budget car insurance you could be construed as high risk.

In addition, your insurance company wants to know that you will pay your bills on time, so if your credit score shows that you pay bills late as a matter of routine, you may have some problems getting budget insurance.

Unfortunately, a lot of companies will judge you automatically via your credit score, including budget car insurance companies.

If you drive a fancy car, you can expect to pay more for insurance. New cars cost more to fix, so do expensive cars. Don’t expect to get great budget car insurance if you drive a luxury car.

Some auto insurers have a rating system according to your car make and model. Each car has a number on that rating system from 1 to 27. Factored into these numbers are risk factors such as theft and also the overall safety of the vehicle. For example, older model cars that do not have air bags will probably be more costly to ensure as well therefore budget insurance will not fit this criterion.

If you find what you think is really cheap budget insurance, pay special attention to the “hidden” costs. If you are paying via installment payments, you can definitely expect to pay a lot more over the long run because of administrative costs and interest that are factored into those payments.

When you get a budget car insurance quote, read the fine details.

Sometimes what you think is a good deal for budget car insurance may not be in the end.

If you have a newer vehicle, for example, find out what value your insurance company considers “replacement value” on your car. It may be worth it to pay a little extra to get the value of your vehicle at the time you insure it, rather than the blue book value. It may surprise you to find out that most insurance companies will not give you replacement value if you write your car off.

If you switch insurers, be sure to cancel the existing policy you have with your previous insurer, or you may end up paying both policies. Just because you decide to go with a lower cost policy does not mean that your previous insurer will automatically cancel your insurance policy.

It is a good idea to be aware of all the ins and outs of a lower cost insurance policy. Just because you are paying less for the cheapest car insurance does not mean that you are getting the best deal in the long run.

Due diligence is a must as budget insurance may not be the best option.

The Journey of Ford Motors

Henry Ford began the journey of Ford motors in the year 1903. Since the incorporation of the organization, Ford motors has grown to become one of the biggest players in the automotive industry. In the past 100 plus years, Ford has been successful pushing limits in automotive technology and in introducing cars that have gained the loyalty of millions of consumers.

FUN FACT!! The very first Ford sold was to Dr. Pfennig in 1903, for a grand total of $850. The “Model A” had a 2-cylinder engine and could reach a max speed of 30 mph

The popularity factor is not something that is new to Ford. In fact, in 1903, the first Model T was introduced that gained immense popularity. The demand was so high that the company had to get innovative with its mass production methods. In 1911, Ford went across the oceans and established a branch in Manchester, England. To meet the increased demand and need for quick production, Ford Motors changed history in the automotive industry by introducing the first moving assembly line at the Highland Park Assembly Plant in the year 1913. The first assembly line has 140 assemblers who worked along a 150-foot line to assemble the parts. By the 1920s, the company has over 20 overseas assembly plants across the world and was the largest automobile producer in America.

In 2008, when the three big automakers – Ford, General Motors and Chrysler were facing major financial issues, The United States government have to the rescue by providing financial aid through TARP (Troubled Assets Relief Program). Ford was the only organization that was able to survive the difficult time and did not file for bankruptcy. Since then the company has been steadily advancing and leaving its mark on the industry.

Since the turn of the decade, Ford has been investing in manufacturing fuel-efficient models. It has been successful in making cars that have high performance while at the same time being eco-friendly. Today, Ford is among the leading sellers for hybrid and electronic cars in America.

Common Auto Repair Ripoffs

According to the California Bureau of Automotive Repair, there are over 25,000 consumer complaints filed concerning fraudulent auto repair every year. Car owners lose an estimated $20 million annually on unnecessary car repairs. And while most shops are, in fact, honest, it’s easy to see how dishonest mechanics can take advantage of customers: most people know little or nothing about car repair. But to avoid falling victim to auto repair rip-offs, it’s good to know about the ones that are commonly used.

False Estimates

This scam happens when mechanics give you a low initial repair estimate, only to hike up the costs when you come to pick up your vehicle after repairs have been done. The excuse for the extra costs will usually be that new problems were found during the work and they needed immediate fixing. Most people end up paying the hiked up price because they have no way of verifying the legitimacy of the mechanics’ claims. Get all estimates in writing and signed to avoid falling victim to this scheme.

Shady Highway Shops

Car shops located along the side of the road cater to car owners whose automobiles break down in the middle of the highway. They will sometimes charge exaggerated prices and bill you for extra repairs because they know that you’ll likely pay the extra money rather than get stranded in the middle of the highway.

Hook Deal Scams

When auto shops advertise ultra low or free deals on oil changes or tire rotations, their plan is to get you in for the low-cost/free service and then convince you to purchase more expensive repair services based on the recommendations they come up with after inspecting your car. Dishonest mechanics will sometimes make up problems or cause them themselves in order to get your money. If a suggested repair doesn’t seem right, get a second opinion before agreeing to the job.

Unnecessary Part Replacements

Some mechanics will try to convince you that a part of your car needs immediate replacement, when in fact the part is not broken and works just fine. To avoid falling victim to this scam, always ask to see the part that supposedly needs replacing. If it doesn’t look broken, get a second opinion. And ask to keep the old part to make sure that a replacement was actually performed.

How to Make Money at the Dog Track in the Summer

Greyhound tracks have to compete with a lot of summer time activities. People are out enjoying the nicer weather. They can go to the beach, picnic or take in a movie without contending with icy roads or cold weather.

So, to get them to go to the track, many venues offer rewards or special promotions. Some of these may include prizes as big as new cars or as small as free sodas, cheap beer and food. All of it is designed by their publicity people to get more people to come to the track.

Sometimes, someone gets the bright idea that music will get people into the track. Why this is, I’ve never been able to figure out. If I want to listen to music, I turn on the radio or put my MP3 player’s earbuds in. If I want to handicap dogs, I sit down where it’s quiet and go over my program.

But someone, somewhere, came up with the idea that dog racing fans will show up in bigger numbers if you offer them a more “carnival-like” atmosphere. That’s why you’ll find booths and umbrellas with radio dj’s broadcasting live and NASCAR drivers signing autographs in the clubhouse.

This is all well and good, but if you’re smart, you’ll ignore it and get as far away from it as you can. This is all designed to attract people who don’t usually go to the track. It’s not of any use to the serious handicapper, who is at the track to make money.

When the carnival comes to the dog track, the best thing you can do is remember to keep your eye on the center ring, where you can make money by picking the winner out of 8 dogs. Ignore the sideshows and glitter and focus on why you’re there – to make money.

The Complete Story of Isuzu Heavy Duty Trucks

History of Isuzu Heavy Duty Trucks

Isuzu Motors Limited is a well-known Japanese company that has made both cars and trucks in several sizes, and their heavy duty commercial truck series are very popular and widely used. They have become a very well-respected and innovative company.

Start of Isuzu Motors Limited Brand

Although it did not have the Isuzu name as yet, the company has its beginning in 1916 when the Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Company joined in with the Tokyo Gas Electric Industrial Company to make vehicles. Two years later, they were given permission to do this and to sell the new vehicles in Japan, with the cars made being designed by a UK company called the Wolseley Motor Company.

Isuzu Starts Producing Trucks

Isuzu branched out into their truck making venture in 1922 with their first commercial truck being the Wolseley Model A-9. In 1934 they came up with the Isuzu name in honor of the Isuzu River in the Ise Shrine area, and by 1949 they officially took the Isuzu Motors Limited name and were making headlines as the largest heavy duty truck maker in Japan.

Isuzu Trucks After World War II

After the war, Isuzu began to make their trucks at an even faster pace to keep up with the new demands on the company. They produced commercial trucks designed to transport food and other products, which were used in the reconstruction of Japan after World War II. The need for these heavy duty commercial trucks helped create a boom in the manufacturing at the Isuzu plants.

By 1959, Isuzu was producing several kinds of heavy duty commercial trucks and had designed a cab forward control truck dubbed as the N series. This style of truck is still popular because of the turning radius, and the fact that it is easy to drive. In 1960, the N Series trucks were also made featuring a diesel engine. This was the first time this was done in the manufacture of this type of truck in Japan.

Isuzu Over the Next Decades

Isuzu manufacturers continued their innovation over the next few decades, coming out with the medium weight series F trucks in 1970, a flat low series truck four years later, a wide cab in 1980 and they came out with trucks with front end suspension in their trucks in 1990.

In 1995 Isuzu introduced the C & E series of heavy duty trucks and in 1997 the company showed how innovative it was by producing Japan's very first four bag air suspension in their trucks with the GIGAMAX series.

In 1998 developed a bedless style of truck called the Forward V and in 1999 that they debuted the Forward MAX, and in 2002, their more efficient Smoother F transmission was placed in some of their truck models.

Isuzu Works With the US

The US first worked with the Isuzu Motors Limited in 1971 when General Motors made a deal with them to make Isuzu vehicle for the very first time. This began the Isuzu venture to work with other US companies in the next 30 years as they made similar deals with Chevrolet and Dodge.

In fact, by 1999 General Motors had become the major stakeholder in Isuzu at 49 percent, but sadly this occurred around the time of a major recession and Isuzu ended up shutting down these operations in the US and instead focused primarily on making commercial trucks and diesel engines.

Modern Isuzu Trucks Era

These days, Isuzu still has some of its N and F series of commercial trucks driving around the world. Plus, they are still making commercial trucks designed for towing, hauling building supplies, working in pest control, and landscaping. It is estimated that nearly 90 percent of the Isuzu trucks that have been sold in the US are still running due to their high quality and workmanship.

In 2005, Isuzu was known at the largest truck manufacturer in the world for heavy and medium duty trucks by 2009 they have made more than 21 million diesel engines, which are currently being used by the companies Renault, Opel and General Motors.

Today, Isuzu has its headquarters in Tokyo and is still turning out quality trucks with a multitude of uses.

You can make more money at these scrap yards if you take apart the junk vehicle yourself, then sell each individual component for cash. The reason you will get less money for a whole junk car is that the company has to use time and effort to strip down a vehicle themselves.

Scrap metal yards will certainly give you a higher cash return for your junk vehicle than a regular person who’s found your ad in the paper. Scrap metal companies know and understand the worth of certain metals with automobiles and retain the finances to purchase large inventories of scrap vehicles for recycling purposes.

They also make the process easier for the client because they generally offer pickup and towing services for free. This way you do not even have to leave your house to sell a junk car to a scrap metal recycling company.

Before selling your old vehicle to one of these businesses, it is recommended to become familiar with the types of valuable metals found within your car so that you are more aware of the potential cash return you are entitled to receive.

Types of Recyclable Metals Found in Vehicles

There are two types of metals, ferrous and nonferrous. Ferrous metals are not as valuable as nonferrous metals, but are still high in demand and can be recycled and reused in various ways. It is still a very beneficial metal in the world. Ferrous metal is any alloy that contains iron. This includes cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, wrought iron, and other steel and iron alloys.

Nonferrous metals are higher in value and include alloys such as aluminum, copper, brass, silver, lead, and more. The best way to determine whether or not a metal is ferrous or nonferrous is by using a magnet. If the magnet sticks to the metal, then it is ferrous. If it does not stick, it is either nonferrous metal or not metal at all.

Precious metals are even more valuable; such as platinum, bismuth, zirconium, cobalt, and gold. Some of these precious and nonferrous metals can be found in junk automobiles. Cars have many parts within them that contain valuable nonferrous metals. For example, a catalytic converter is made of platinum, a very precious nonferrous metal. If a junk car still retains this part, it can be worth a lot more money. Also, copper radiators are a valuable item. Contact a local junk car buyer for current market values for metal and automotive parts.

How To Prevent From Being Slaughtered When You Negotiate – Negotiation Tip of the Week

“What the heck happened in there? They slaughtered us! They out-negotiated us at every turn! Why did we not see that coming?” “I guess we didn’t plan for that type of negotiation with that type of negotiator”, was the reply.

People engage in negotiations because they seek to maximize an outcome. In that quest, some people lose their focus. They use the same negotiation strategies they’ve used in the past and wonder why they get slaughtered when those strategies are no longer effective. To prevent that from happening to you, note the following.

Positioning:

Environment: Know what the best environment is to conduct your negotiation in. That environment may encompass doing so in writing, or phone, versus in person. There are different dynamics that come into play when negotiating in different environments. Know the environment that will most benefit your style of negotiating compared to the negotiation style of the opposing negotiator.

Perception: Everyone has an image of who the person is that they’re negotiating with. That persona is based in part on what the perceiver knows about the other negotiator; that stems from what the perceiver has seen, heard, and thought of that person in the past.

Project the persona warranted for the negotiation. Take into consideration the negotiation style of the opposing negotiator in your calculation (i.e. hard (I’ll crush you), soft (I’ll go along to get along)). The perception you cast and how you perceive the other negotiator will determine the flow of the negotiation. To prevent being caught off guard, about your perception of the other negotiator and him of you, be adaptable as to the persona you project.

Strategy:

Entity: Know who you’re really dealing with (i.e. what force and sources motivates the other negotiator). Consider how he interprets information and how best to message that information related to the messenger (i.e. your persona). Your message may be received more favorably with one persona based on how that persona is perceived.

Leverage: When assembling strategies, assess how you’ll employ the powers of leverage. Leverage is a tool that can embolden you with positional power (i.e. power you have for a specified time), which can improve your negotiation position. Be cautious of how you use leverage. If you state you’ll engage in an action and don’t follow through, not only will you lose the ability to invoke leverage further in the negotiation, you also run the risk of losing credibility.

End Game:

What’s your end game and how will you know when you’ve entered it? You should develop the answers to those questions during the planning phase of your negotiation. The plan should encompass what might trigger the end game phase of the negotiation, how you might promote it to occur if it’s lagging, and what you might do to terminate the negotiation if you discern that your efforts will not get you there.

By having markers denoting possible exit points from a negotiation, you lessen the possibility of staying engaged longer than what’s necessary; staying engaged longer increases your vulnerability by making unnecessary concessions.

Once you arm yourself with the thoughts mentioned above, you’ll insulate yourself from the brutality that could otherwise occur. That insulation will also be a shield that prevents you from being slaughtered in your negotiations… and everything will be right with the world.

Remember, you’re always negotiating!

Compare Cheap Car Insurance Quotes Online

The main reason you need to go on the net to rate shop is simple. First, many carriers that market their coverage on-line have direct insurance prices. This means they have a business model that excludes expensive brokers and sell polices directly to consumers. This is good news for money savers like yourself. Usually, you can find direct automobile insurance quotes that are 10% to even 15% lower than calling up an agent. The second reason why you should check web quotes is the ability to compare multiple rates super fast. You can apply at the website, and if you have any questions, a helpful representative is available to assist you anytime.

Before you go and start getting quoted, there are a couple of basic things you need to do beforehand. Get all of your personal and vehicle information together. This means the year, make model of your car and the VIN or vehicle identification number. You’ll also need the name of your current insurer, home address and with some insurers, your license number. Once you have this important info ready to go, getting online car insurance quotes to compare will only take a few minutes.

Don’t Feel Bad About Switching Car Insurance Companies

So many people feel guilty about changing automobile insurers. This is not some legal contract that bounds you to one insurer forever. The truth is, your policy can be canceled by the insurer at any time for many reasons like a DUI offense. So you need to have the same mindset and if you find a lower rate, do not hesitate to switch carriers. After all, you work hard for your money and have the right to change car insurance companies any time you want to. One frequent excuse for not switching; is people falsely believe they won’t get refunded their pre-paid premiums. This is not true at all. If you’ve made a years payment in full on policy and want to switch after six months, you will get a full refund. Try a free online quoting site and if you can save more than $100 per year on coverage, it is probably worth it to change providers.

Remember that comparing car insurance quotes online is totally free and you have no obligation at all to buy a policy. You only need to fill out a few minutes of personal information to get matched with the lowest rates for the type of coverage you need. One quick tip; Always do business with carriers that have a B or higher A.M. Best insurance rating. This is super important because the last things you need is for your auto insurer to go belly up and not be able to pay a claim. Just like in any other industry, insurance firms get badly managed and go out of business all the time. There are lots of sad stories out there of people not getting paid on very serious claims because the insurer went bankrupt.

Express Yourself Well and Say How You Feel

So many of us are automatically programmed to do the 'right thing' when something is asked of us. If we've been 'well brought up' we may find it hard to resist the temptation to be useful, help others, not disappointment or cause offense. Yet agreeing, not saying how we feel or sometimes saying 'yes' when we do not want to, can lead us to feeling unused, unappreciated and resentful.

– When we learn to be assertive and express ourselves well , in an appropriate way, it means that when we do say 'yes' to something we're happy to undertake that extra task, meet up socially, do a favor, take things further . We're not feeling cajoled, bullied or guilty-tripped. On occasion we may agree to do things we're not too keen on or stay quiet and bite our tongue. We'll view it as a trade-off; it may be important to gain brownie points or simply be good manners.

However, if we sense that our acquiescence has become a regular pattern, that others now expect us to always agree, we may need to consider the signals we're giving. When we express ourselves well it becomes an integral part of establishing balanced relationships. So it's important to notice if others have begun to view us as a pushover and 'yes' is now becoming the most negative word in our vocabulary.

– Saying how we feel means that we're committed to establishing equal relationships , are keen to be open, honest and comfortable together. When we're at ease and prepared to give, share and be real about our feelings it helps us build trust and mutual respect, where communication occurs naturally. No one's keeping a tally of who does good deeds and favors or is having to think before they speak.

If, over time, we notice that we're the one who's always helping out, is obliging, saying 'yes' when we'd prefer to say 'no' and getting nothing in return we may start to feel frustrated and let down. Rarely receiving consideration or a simple 'thank you' can signal time to start expressing yourself better and saying how you feel rather more often.

Remember though that others may not fully appreciate how you're thinking or feeling. If you're quiet you may appear sullen, indifferent or in agreement with what's been decided. Watch for this becoming a pattern in a relationship, especially if one person is dominant or strongly opinionated. The fact that you may have given a massive concession, or made a major investment of yourself may have escaped their notice. They may have asked a question where they expected you to say then you feel then simply taken at your word.

I remember a client, a top female manger in a male-controlled national company. She was seriously stressed, working long hours with virtually no free time or personal life. She always said 'yes' to her manager because she was worried that if she did not he would assume she was not coping and was not up to the job. One evening she was driving home from work late at night. Her boss called and asked her to do an urgent report for him.

She'd worked on her confidence and so felt able to readily explain what she was already working on, that she was happy to do the report but needed his input on rescheduling her workload to incorporate the new request. It turned out that he was unaware of her other commitments, was inquiring if she had any spare capacity and was happy to get someone else to do it. She deal with his request calmly and effectively, expressed herself well and so avoided automatically saying 'yes' and ending up working through the night.

– Good communications are important. Being open and honest, expressing clearly that you're happy to do something, want to be supportive, spend time together, but need others to reciprocate, understand and appreciate your point of view is a positive way of investing in your relationships. It's important to indicate what you want from your partner in return.

– When we feel obligated, pressured or second-guessed we can start to feel resentful . Always being the 'good guy' can wear thin, especially if it becomes similar that others automatically assume we will go along with their wishes. We can feel unappreciated, disregarded, inconsequential. But if we do not speak up and say how we feel we have to accept some responsibility for other people's prayers. It's important to deal with a situation before it impacts too much on our relationships.

If this is you, take time to reflect on why you have this mindset, why this pattern has evolved in your relationships. Were your role models people-peasants, always compliant; was disagreement considered as argumentative, unattractive, unacceptable; Were your …
